The gap

People want to do the right thing with their old clothes. Most of them have no idea where to take them.

That's the whole problem in a sentence. Households are shifting toward more sustainable habits and local governments are finally treating waste reduction as serious business — but saying textiles don't belong in the landfill is easy. Giving a neighborhood somewhere convenient to actually take them is the hard part, and almost nobody has solved it.

Based on EPA estimates, even with all the thrift stores, worship houses, and door-to-door collections in the country combined, only about 15% of textiles are diverted from landfills. Most U.S. municipalities don't offer textile recycling at all.

Whether you are a school, business, worship house, or local government, a box on your site closes that gap for everyone who walks or drives past it.

How much space does it take?
A 4′ x 4′ footprint, 6′8″ tall. About the size of a vending machine — one parking space, or a corner you're probably not using.
Is it secure?
Built from heavy steel, fireproof, with an anti-theft locking system and chute mechanism. We carry liability insurance on every box we place, and many are now fitted with 24/7 monitored security cameras.
Who looks after it?
We do, entirely. Boxes are emptied as often as needed and some locations are serviced daily. If one ever needs urgent attention, call us and we're there within 48 hours.
What does it cost me?
Nothing. This is worth saying twice.
Are donations tax deductible?
Yes — we'll provide a tax-deductible receipt on request.
Why do your boxes carry your own name?
Plenty of collection bins are placed by one company under a charity's licensed name. Ours carry our own name because we are the ones who answer for them — we own and operate every box we place.
What happens to what you collect?
A driver works a route of green boxes and brings the bags back to our Richmond facility, where clothing, shoes and other items are separated and packed apart. It is then baled, weighed and sold to wholesale buyers. Whatever is left after the trucks, the fuel, the wages and the warehouse funds the development work we support.
